What services does Hive Offer?

Hive provides support workers to families in Central Victoria. We specialise in providing support for children under 18 and young adults, who have current NDIS plans.

Do I need to have an NDIS plan to use Hive’s services?

Our services are created, provided and billed with NDIS planning and funding in mind. If you don’t have an NDIS plan, or are waiting for you plan to be approved, you may utilize our services, but will be out of pocket the full cost.

What actually is Support Work?

Support workers provide support to NDIS participants and their families and many different ways. Support that can be provided depends heavily on the wording in your NDIS plan. Our support workers provide transport, help around the home, activities based on working on NDIS and personal goals, assistance with community and social inclusion, assistance with daily living, etc.

Does my NDIS plan allow me to have a Support Worker?

Each plan is different. Some families have funding in their ‘Core Funding’ which specifically states that the funds can be used flexibly for a support worker.

Some families have a large amount of funding in their ‘Core Funding’ that doesn’t specifically state it can be used for Support Work, but because Core Funding can be used flexibly, participants may decide to use this for Support Work.

For some plans, we can use funds from your ‘Capacity Building’ funding. if we do this, our support needs to directly relate back to the NDIS goals listed in your plan. Funds should also be prioritized for things like OT, Speech, Counselling, Psychology, Physio etc. If you find yourself not using your funds for those services, or you can’t use them yet because you are on a waitlist, you can utilize all those funds for Support Work.

If you are still unsure, please send through your NDIS plan to katie@hivefamily.net and our Director will read over your plan and offer some basic advice. We can also refer you to someone who can answer more in depth questions for you.

Do I need to live in Bendigo to utilize Hive’s services?

No. Our staff are happy to travel up to 2 hours each way to provide support for you. The travel time and cost involved is invoiced at the rates set out by the NDIS.

Some of our services are also available online and over the phone.
